The official website for the Gintama anime franchise announced today that two feature films will get 4DX screenings in Japan — the 2013 film Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya in the summer of 2025 and the 2021 film Gintama: The Very Final in the fall of 2025. These screenings are part of the Gintama anime franchise’s 20th anniversary project.

4DX is a theater screening system in which the seats are perfectly linked to the scenes in the film, moving back and forth, up and down, left and right, and allowing the audience to experience various effects such as wind, water (mist), scent, and smoke.

A trailer for the 4DX screenings, newly narrated by Fumihiko Tachiki (Taizo Hasegawa) is now available on Warner Brothers Japan’s official YouTube channel.

Gintama: The Very Final, inspired by the climax of the original manga, released on January 8, 2021, earning 1.9 billion yen (13.29 million USD), which was the highest in the Gintama anime film series.

The Gintama TV anime series aired for 367 episodes in total from April 2006 to October 2018, and all episodes are available on Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll describes the series as such:

In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
